 A colorful Moth

The same comments made for the Avis seaplane version

are valid here, so I will juts copy and paste the relevant ones:

The generic sprues will allow you to put some nice little things on the spares bin.

I commissioned for this model a special set from Arctic Decals as I wanted to do something different, and it did not disappoint! .

I really like many of the Avis/Amodel subjects, and greatly compliment them on the release of a variety of attractive, mysterious, significant and beautiful civil planes. I have bought many, as a way to support their civil choices.

Their moldings are delicate enough, the parts count satisfying, the level of detail generous, and the subjects as said wonderful. One can tell that the masters were good, but...the short-run nature of the molding process unfortunately affects much of the good, rendering the fit vague to say the least, and frankly bad in many cases. The engineering is not always the best, and the chunky nature of some of the resulting parts forces you to much cleaning and adjusting, and dry-fit is an absolute must.

I have another boxing of the DH60 by Avis -or clon Amodel- somewhere in the stash, as there are many colorful schemes that you can see around documented on the Net.

This one is not an easy kit, for a variety of reasons, but with time, patience, some proper swearing and stiff drinks it may become a nice model.

  1. A beauty, virtually photorealistic. Bravo.

Amodel really do a good Moth family - in 72nd. With their 1/48th dH 60G, though, one is not provided with any real means to connect the lower wings except for four tiny greasy pips. Okay but tricky for a folded up Moth but otherwise a Royal pain in the derriere in many ways.

Good things really do come in smaller packages as is evident here.

    1. Yeap, Amodel sharpness of modling and engineering are not always the best.
