Bellanca CH300 CF-ATN floatplane - Modified Dora Wings 1/72nd kit

Bellanca CF-ATN is now ready to fly and float.

The original plane is a labor of love, and it's owned by Warren Wright, founder of North-Wright Air. Warren makes it possible for all of us, golden age lovers, to enjoy this wonderfully restored plane. It flies majestically on the Northwest Territories skies, where Warren is based.

The building sequence with all the necessary modifications and additions can be consulted here:

https://wingsofintent.blogspot.com/2021/03/bellnca-ch-300-on-floats-converted-dora.html

And involved:

- Making a set of EDO floats with spray deflectors, water rudder and its control cables and rigging, two paddles as seen in photos of the original, inspection hatches, lids and access ladders.

- Replacing engine (with Khee-Kha Art Products resin item)

- Modifying the interior

- Opening all windows as the kit mold has them flashed over

- Cutting and posing one foldable door open

- Modifying the fuselage top adding windows

- Re-contouring the stabilizer to match original plane

- Adding four climbing steps to fuselage nose

- Struts related to floats

- Changing the wing fuel tanks detail

- Adding wing landing lights

- Adding tail nav light

- Adding oil cooler and Venturi inside the left LG leg "armpit"

- Adding air scoops to the nose louvered area

- Commissioning a decal set from Arctic Decals

- Fabricating new Pitot and other details

As explained above, this is a replica of the actual restored plane owned by Warren Wright of Canada, and, at the moment of this post, the only flying one (there is a similar one owned by Hawaiian Airlines, of which I made two replicas, but is being overhauled now):

The adaptation of the Dora Wings kit was indeed laborious, but I think it paid off, provided you are willing to spend the time and effort.

My thanks to Mika Jernfors and Lars Opland, who clarified for me some details for this project.
