The minute Brown B-2 racer looks the part thanks to the very good start the Karaya resin kit provides. To enhance the model, I added an oil cooler seen in photos on the left fuselage lower side, a small Pitot on the right LG leg, a fuel cap and vent, carb intake, rudder control horns and cable, tube exhaust stacks (the kit’s pips were removed) and of course the rigging. As the kit provides a nice Menasco 6 engine I “opened the hood” to better display it adding the engine mount. For structural reasons I metal-pinned the horizontal tail and wings and replaced the weak resin tailskid with a brass home-made one.
This is a beautiful little kit that needs a bit of patience and a steady hand (I have neither). It could have benefited from spare decals (as these are really good but very fragile) and it would have been a blessing if the stab halves would have had locating slots on the fuselage.
I have built Karaya kits before and their details and casting are good, but they are for more experienced modelers.
I liked the quality of the detail and the resin, which was mainly flawless. The price I paid was really fair even if this is a very small model, again because of its quality and detail.
