De Havilland DH89 Dragon Rapide "Hercule Poirot". Heller 1/72nd

Poirot and Hastings. The plane as it appears in the opening scene of Agatha Christie's Poirot "Peril at End House" episode:

Yet another Dragon Rapide takes to the air. The venerable, almost mythological Heller kit that was created many decades ago continues to give pleasure to modelers around the world, replicating in miniature the magically graceful lines of this Golden Age icon.

This time the myth meets another myth: the Dragon Rapide carries Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot (magnificently portrayed by David Suchet) and Hastings (wonderfully rendered by Hugh Fraser), as featured in the episode "Peril at End House", from about 30 years ago. The colorful livery enhances the already pleasant lines of this classic, and the little figures of Captain Hastings and Poirot lend a sense of scale... and a touch of humor.

The beautiful decal set, as well as the masks and chrome windshield, window, door and hatch frames, are from Arctic Decals in Finland.

  1. BEAUTIFUL WORK! as always. To my eye, the DH.88 and DH.89 are flying art and sculpture. Gotta love those tapered wings!
