Junkers Cl.1/ J-10 civil conversion - Pegasus 1/72nd scale

Here is the civil conversion of the Junkers Cl.1 / J.10, utilized for a short period to carry passengers and mail after WWI. Like many civil conversions of the time, the short-term, stop-gap measure consisted of slapping a canopy on the existing plane to hopefully entice brave souls to discover the wonders of flight (and its associated noise and thrills). As simple as these conversions were (many times not even having a canopy), they opened the way to future improvements, research and investment to quickly grow into the civil aviation we know today, that instead of offering noise and unpredictable schedules, now bestows upon the vast majority of its passengers utter discomfort, shifting schedules and cancellations, and cattle-treatment.

The Pegasus kit requires skill and patience, and to achieve the "zivil" version you have to modify and fabricate a number of parts. It takes some work, but I have wanted to have this replica for a long time, so the energy invested was worth it.

Only the crosses were used from the kit decals (they were a bit stiff, not ideal when you have corrugations), the rest of the markings are from Arctic Decals, and as all their products, superb.

As it often happens, once you take the photos you notice you have forgotten some detail. In this case a a speedometer. It took a few attempts to get one right, as this is tiny!:
