Sctratchbuilt 1/72 scale Gwinn Aircar Second Machine (and second model on the blog of this one)

After the marathonic build of the first Gwinn Aircar that exhausted the allocation of patience I had for the next 100 years, it was only fair that another friend and enthusiast would like one too. This time I am making the second Aircar produced, that was finished in bronze and white. I will post the images of this one too, but I won't repeat too much of what I said in the pertinent post that depicted the first Aircar in this blog.















 Wing spars are inserted temporarily:

 Then removed and given dihedral:
 Canopy is Future-treated:
 Oval-shaped fuel tank is made of bronze and capped with styrene:
Canopy glued in position after drilling all the necessary holes in the fuselage body (stirups, landing lights, nose LG leg, spars):
The seam between the canopy and the fuselage is filled:
 And sanded:
 More putty is used to contour the transition from fuselage to fins:
The putty is sanded:
Some spots are given a quick brushing of Mr. Surfacer:
 The mask of the clear part removed after sanding its join with the fuselage:
 The windows masks are applied:
 A coat of primer is given:
After sanding small imperfections the lower spar and stab spar were inserted:
The wing panels are cut and their matching surface with their location on the fuselage contoured:
 The four wing panels have been matched to the curves of their locations:
The Pobjoy white metal replica engine and its exhaust is located inside the nose, the fuel tank is glued on the firewall, tail feathers are glued in place too:
 The nose is now attached to the fuselage:
 Lower wing panels secured:
The landing gear legs are trimmed to size and given a locating pin:
 Legs are fixed to the model:
The bronze color is airbrushed:
After an application of clear varnish has dried the masks are removed:
 Decals are cut for the doors and window frames:
 Window frames being applied:

 White flashes are cut from white decal stock:
 Wheels, stirrups, landing lights and flashes are now on the model:
The upper wing panels are added, and airfoiled strut stock prepared for the 6 interplane struts, the two wing to fuselage struts and the two wheel pants to fuselage struts. Also seen the finished prop with guard and spinner and the exhaust tube:
