The appealing shape of this twin-tail twin is now revealed, after a bit of huffing and puffing.
The kit surface and detail are both nice, but the nicest thing is actually that a kit of the Monospar does exist at all, so thanks to Azur for that.
Still, this is not one likely to fare well during construction if in the hands of less experienced modelers. The lack of locating devices throughout, canopy masks or canopy mask patterns, and the vacuformed canopy make for very "exciting" modeling hours. The mods and additions made can be consulted in the step-by-step building post:

I used a very nice set from Arctic Decals for the markings.
I wish this kit would be re-released with proper locating devices, especially for wings and landing gear, and an injected canopy with masks, then it would be a delight.
As explained in the construction post the kit provides the parts for other Monospar variants and a spare transparency, so bonus points for that.
It is known that the British are not particularly inclined to design beautiful planes, but this is one of the exceptions.
Even if it may be a build that needs care and some skill, you can have now your elegant Monospar -if willing to put that little extra effort.
How dare you sir! Being able to tart up the monospar kit hardly gives you the right to cast aspersions on beauties such as The Blackburd, that achingly beautiful Sopwith Cuckoo, the antipodean elegance personified Blackburn Kangaroo. Hmmmm now you come to mention it.....🐞 As for this pesky lack of locating pegs Azur are not the only culprits who are defended by He Man Modellers who claim not having them makes one a right and true modeler. Never did see the argument but many resin kits are very difficult to put together without that sea of superglue leaking everywhere. Oh well, must try harder.🐞

Dear Sir.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful thing. Nicely executed.
However, Please remind us once again - how many spars does it have?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks, Vance.
DeleteDo you mean in one wing or in both?
